All penetrations through the insulation layer respectively the vapour barriers – such as electrical lines, outlet vents, ventilations and many other products – have to be sealed permanent and airtight according to DIN 4108, Part 7.

Let’s be honest! Even at the most accurate handling the conventional use of adhesive tape cannot meet these requirements entirely.

Sealings of plane surfaces, such as abutting vapour barriers, can be sealed with the known adhesive tapes without any difficulty. In contrast, penetrations of conduits are problem areas, because the sealing has to be carried out in two levels standing at an angle of 90 degrees to each other. As soon as this needs to happen in areas with difficult access, for example on inclined surfaces or room corners, the airtightness is difficult to achieve. Even at most accurate workmanship the real permanent airtightness is not yet secured the way the rule requires it explicitly.
